A Special Word
It's been a dizzying journey to Italian citizenship

A Special Word

As you may know, we've had one of our kids here since just before Christmas in order to obtain her Italian citizenship. It's been wonderful having her here—for starters, she's an amazing cook, and also, it's just kind of cool hanging out with your adult children in what is a totally new place for us. Like vacationing together, but without all the nuisance and nagging.

In terms of the quest for citizenship, it's been a dizzying process and taken us much longer than we had anticipated. To be sure, we've spent a lot of days scratching our heads over concerns that there was no formal, documented process (at least not one that can easily be found or produced) and general lack of confidence that if there was a process the people handing it for her had no clue as to what it was.

Making things up as you go may work okay on vacation, but this was quickly becoming the opposite of fun and with no end in sight to the situation we resorted to a tried and true technique. We became a nuisance and nagged.

She's a writer, too, and has written about the ordeal (getting her citizenship, not living again with mom and dad), which I'd like to share with you now. Click the link below to be taken to Krista's story.

Thanks and have a great weekend!
